Educational Level:
– Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications in project management is highly desirable.

Position Overview

Oromia Development Association is seeking four experienced and dynamic individuals for the position of Project Coordinator. The successful candidates will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing development projects aimed at improving community welfare in Adama and surrounding areas. This role requires strong project management skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for community development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Design:
– Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, in alignment with Oromia Development Association’s goals and objectives.
– Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies to identify community requirements and opportunities for development interventions.
– Prepare project proposals and reports for stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government agencies.

2. Project Execution:
– Oversee the implementation of development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
– Coordinate with project teams, including field staff, volunteers, and external contractors, to ensure effective project delivery.
– Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

3. Community Engagement:
– Engage with local communities to foster participation and ownership of development initiatives.
– Organize community meetings, workshops, and training sessions to build capacity and raise awareness about project goals and benefits.
– Address community concerns and feedback to ensure projects meet local needs and expectations.

4. Resource Management:
– Manage project resources, including financial, human, and material resources, to maximize efficiency and impact.
– Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of expenditures.
– Secure additional funding and resources through fundraising activities and grant applications.

5. Monitoring and Evaluation:
– Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project performance and impact.
– Collect and analyze data to measure project outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
– Prepare and present project evaluation reports to stakeholders, highlighting achievements and lessons learned.

6. Stakeholder Coordination:
– Collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated and complementary efforts.
– Represent Oromia Development Association in meetings, forums, and conferences related to development projects.
– Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, and community leaders.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

– Project Management: Proven experience in managing development projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
– Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Afaan Oromo and Amharic is highly desirable.
– Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
– Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams.
– Financial Management: Experience in budgeting and financial management, including tracking expenditures and preparing financial reports.
– Community Development: Understanding of community development principles and practices, with a commitment to empowering local communities.
– Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as MS Project, Excel, and other relevant applications.

Language Skills

English: Advanced proficiency, both written and spoken, is required.
Afaan Oromo: Proficiency in Afaan Oromo is highly preferred.
Amharic: Proficiency in Amharic is an added advantage.
