Position Overview

Gamo Development Association is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Project Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating various development projects aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions in the Gamo region. The role requires an individual who is adept at project planning, execution, and monitoring while ensuring all activities align with the association’s goals and standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Management:
– Develop comprehensive project plans outlining objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
– Coordinate with stakeholders to gather input and ensure project plans are aligned with the community’s needs and priorities.
– Implement project plans, ensuring adherence to set timelines and budget constraints.

2. Resource Allocation:
– Identify and allocate necessary resources, including human, financial, and material resources.
– Ensure efficient use of resources to maximize project impact and sustainability.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation:
– Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess project progress and impact.
– Conduct regular field visits to project sites to monitor activities and gather feedback.
– Prepare detailed progress reports and present findings to the management team and stakeholders.

4. Stakeholder Engagement:
– Maintain strong relationships with donors, government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders.
– Facilitate stakeholder meetings and ensure effective communication channels are maintained.
– Address any issues or challenges that arise during project implementation promptly.

5. Financial Management:
– Oversee project budgets and ensure expenditures are tracked accurately.
– Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
– Prepare financial reports and ensure transparency in all financial dealings.

6. Capacity Building:
– Identify training and development needs of project staff and community members.
– Organize and facilitate training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge required for effective project implementation.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

Project Management: Proven experience in managing development projects, preferably in a non-profit or NGO setting.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Amharic and/or local languages is highly desirable.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions based on data and observations.
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in leading and managing teams.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in project management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Cultural Competence: Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural dynamics within the Gamo region.
Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work environments.

Language Skills

English: Advanced proficiency, both written and spoken, is required.
Amharic: Proficiency in Amharic is highly preferred.
Local Languages: Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Gamo zone is an added advantage.
